WHY YOU SHOULD SURROUND YOURSELF WITH SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE
“Achieving
your Goals In Life Requires That You Selectively Surround yourself with
the Right People, As You Do become the People, Who You Surround
Yourself With”
As i get older and experience life/living, I’m realizing more and more the importance of the energy we allow around us. I believe that it’s important to surround yourself with people that are where you’re trying to get to and have experienced the things you might be going through because you have a real life person to learn from. If you want to improve and succeed in your life, you need to surround yourself with people who have higher standards than you do.
Below are a few steps i’ve taken recently in building my desired network, it could also help shake you out of your routine and build a network that pushes and challenges you to be the best version of yourself:
Make a list of the people you admire and look up to – Read up on their struggles and experiences in their own life journeys so that you understand that struggle is not something reserved for you. There is no such thing as overnight success, people that are successful today paid their own dues and went through the gruesome process of ‘making it’. Learn from their experiences and mistakes.
Go to events that are in line with who you want to become – It’s important to network with the people you aspire to be like or those successful in the path you’re pursuing. Be intentional in placing yourself in the right network, go to the seminars, conferences, talks where you’re likely to meet these people. Other than the value of gaining insight and new knowledge, you also get the chance to meet a potential mentor.
Practice your elevator pitch – This is a 30 seconds to 2 minutes summary sales pitch used to quickly but precisely describe who you are, what you do and your value proposition. When you get in the same room as the people that are your aspirations, how will you stand out? What will you say to them to get and hold their attention or spark interest in you? You need to be prepared to ‘sell yourself’ efficiently when an opportunity presents itself.
Educate Yourself – Listen to podcasts, read books, watch the news, be updated in foreign affairs, learn a new skill, learn a new language; successful people are cultured, when you get a chance to meet one, you want to be able to confidently hold a strong intelligent conversation. You also want to prepare for success, so when you’re in the ‘inner circle’ there’s a fit.
Perfect your skill – When you get the opportunity to sit on the table, what will you be bringing to the table? Succesful people ALWAYS provide a solution to a problem. What are your talents? What is your skill? What is your contribution? What problems can you solve with your skill set? Recognize it and work daily to get better and to perfect yourself and your abilities.
In what ways will you work on your network? Please share in the comment section.

Simply
put, what stands in nearest proximity to you has enormous implications.
Who you surround yourself with matters in all areas of life, yes to be
successful you need to surround yourself with successful people but
financial success is only a small part of one’s life. We must also
strive to be good people fundamentally, treat people fairly, be
respectful, give back when you can, give others a chance the same way
someone gave you a chance when you needed it; you can’t be one thing and
hang around people that stand against your own principles, have peers
that are good people too. Shape your network in a way that will not only
propel you forward, but everyone else who surrounds you.In what ways will you work on your network? Please share in the comment section.
